Behind every great shot is usually an even better story about the community.

To be completely honest, I am still secretly terrified of reptiles. But when I was shooting at the San Jose reptile event, I couldn't pull my eyes away from this absolute dinosaur of a creature—a New Caledonian Giant Gecko.

I was trying my best to get a clean frame through a glass enclosure when the guys from @rhacdupkev noticed my camera. Instead of leaving me to battle the reflections, they completely broke the barrier—they took this gentle giant out of his case just so I could capture these details without the glass getting in the way.

To top off their incredible kindness, they even stood there giving this anxious hiker a masterclass on exactly what to do if I encounter a snake out on the trails.

Up close, the rules of nature feel completely different.
