Happy closing to our Figaro family. This is the second time I’ve been part of bringing David McVicar’s ‘Figaro’ back and I’m still pinching myself.
What a privilege. What a mammoth. What a rich and living and breathing thing.
I’ve pored over the score, walked every track (and missed cues in all of them), and watched it from every corner of the building. What I love most, though, is seeing new casts, new audiences, and new teams collide with it and make it their own.
(It also happens to be the set we used for my first Jette Parker Artists Programme Summer Performance, so in a funny way, a lot of my opera life has happened in and around these walls.)
Boy do I know, and love, this show…
