This is a Tarantula Hawk wasp carrying a pinktoe tarantula. Despite its name, the wasp doesn't eat the spider immediately. Instead, it paralyzes the tarantula with one of the most painful insect stings in the world and drags it to a burrow. There it lays an egg on the spider. When the larvae hatches, it feeds on the still living tarantula, keeping it alive for as long as possible to make sure it has fresh food. #Suriname #rainforest #wildlife #nature #tarantulahawk
