Using years of data from an ocean time series supported by @sccoos_org (Southern California Coastal Observing System) and the Central & Northern California Ocean Observing System, Bailey College undergraduate students collaborated with Dr. Alexis Pasulka (Biological Sciences Department) and Dr. Ryan Walter (Physics Department) to explore the dynamics of Akashiwo sanguinea in SLO Bay along the California Central Coast.
Akashiwo sanguinea is a marine dinoflagellate that can form harmful algal blooms (HABs) in coastal waters, where it can negatively affect a variety of marine organisms.
