ZOOM on Mathieu BONARDET
« How can a trace contain time, and what remains of a gesture once the movement itself has vanished? »
Mathieu Bonardet’s Radiation series extends his exploration of invisible forces through a vocabulary of concentration, diffusion, and energetic expansion. Working with graphite and pastel, he creates compositions in which dense centers seem to emit vibrations across the surface, suggesting the propagation of light, matter, or energy. Rooted in a physical engagement with drawing, the works retain the trace of repeated gestures while evoking phenomena that exceed the scale of the body. In Radiation, Mathieu Bonardet transforms the sheet of paper into a field of tensions, where presence and dispersion, accumulation and release, remain in constant balance.
