“Give up.” That was Martin Parr’s advice.

In our conversation with Mark Davidson, @markjdavidson, he recalls speaking with Parr and receiving what sounded like the most brutal possible answer: everything has already been done on the street, so why bother? But maybe that was exactly the point. If a sentence like that makes you stop, maybe the work was never yours to begin with. If it makes you keep going, then go with everything you have.
