The first collective zine of @revoke.photo is here ! 💥

Traditionally, flash isolates a subject, freezes a fragment of time, and intensifies what might otherwise go unnoticed. It creates a rupture in the natural flow of light. In this series, we, as a collective, approach flash as both technique and metaphor, a sudden disruption within the ordinary. Our images illuminate social landscapes shaped by intensity and fragmentation. Lying somewhere between documentation and emotion, they communicate an abrupt burst of presence. While the flash flattens space, it also creates psychological tension.

These photographs attempt to reflect a current state of society: overstimulated, hyper-visible, suspended between spectacle and isolation. We reach for transcendence in streets, in rituals, in intimacy, in confrontation. Sometimes it appears as ecstasy, sometimes as exhaustion. What remains are traces of impact, a sharp imprint of simply being in the moment, inside the glare.

Pre-orders are now available via the link in bio. Release date: September ❤️‍🔥

Chuffed to share that I’ve made the finals of the Canberra Contemporary Photographic Prize. Didn’t take home the win (big congrats to @estelleyoon!), but making the shortlist among such strong work is a win in its own right. Grateful for the chance to have my work seen alongside so many talented photographers. Onward. 📷 🐴

Flash changes the temperature of a photograph.

In our conversation with Mark Davidson, @markjdavidson, he explains why he uses flash not just for the look, but for the energy it brings into the frame. For Mark, it also cuts through the darkness and mood of Melbourne, giving shape to the disquiet he feels in the city.

“Give up.” That was Martin Parr’s advice.

In our conversation with Mark Davidson, @markjdavidson, he recalls speaking with Parr and receiving what sounded like the most brutal possible answer: everything has already been done on the street, so why bother? But maybe that was exactly the point. If a sentence like that makes you stop, maybe the work was never yours to begin with. If it makes you keep going, then go with everything you have.

In our conversation with Mark Davidson, @markjdavidson, he explains why he is drawn to photographers who dedicate years, sometimes decades, to a single body of work. Not because the photographs are technically better, but because projects reveal something: what keeps pulling a photographer back.

Maybe street photography has too many rules.

Mark Davidson, @markjdavidson, questions why photographers are so often obsessed with defining what does or doesn’t count as a street photograph. The point is not to protect a label, but to make photographs that feel alive, intuitive, and worth looking at.

Stop making photographs for other people.

In our conversation with Mark Davidson, @markjdavidson, he reflects on one of the biggest traps photographers fall into: chasing images that perform instead of images that matter. The photographs that collect likes aren’t always the ones that help you grow.

Performance is temporary. Substance is what lasts.
