I keep meeting deer.
Today it was a mama and her baby.
The thing that always gets me is that they decide whether to come closer. I can’t make that happen. All I can do is slow down enough to notice them and let them decide what feels safe.
I’ve been wondering if imagination is like that.
I know what it’s like to feel disconnected from it. To sit down and wish it would just do the thing. To feel frustrated when nothing comes.
But lately I’ve been asking a different question.
What helps my imagination feel welcome?
Not productive.
Not impressive.
Welcome.
That question has changed the way I walk through the woods, the way I make art, the way I rest, the way I listen.
I’m curious…
If your imagination really was a living creature, what would help it come a little closer to you today?
