This one’s a little more technical, but it can make a huge difference in how your snare sounds live.

⬇️ Read my 3 snare mic placement tips below. ⬇️

🥁 1. Align your top & bottom mics
Keep both mics aimed at the same part of the drum so they capture the snare consistently. Better alignment = better phase relationship.

📏 2. Watch your distance
Start with the top mic about 1–2 inches above the rim, aimed toward the center. Keep the bottom mic at a similar distance from the snare wires for a balanced tone.

🔄 3. Check your polarity
The bottom mic usually needs its polarity flipped because it’s moving opposite the top mic. Always use your ears—choose the setting that gives you the fullest, punchiest snare.

A few small adjustments can take your snare from thin and weak to full and powerful. 🎤🥁
