9 days agoSheโs right! Had to coparent my stepson with his narcissistic biomom and itโs like nothing else. She made him sit outside in the car during a Motherโs Day celebration (heโs the only child) because she booked the reservation at a bar and, of course, never once thought about her 13yo who wouldnโt be able to attend with her. And of course never considered not continuing with the reservation. Just sent him to wait in the car while she ate her meal and got drunk, alone.
11 days agoA lot of you saying things like "At least she defended you" DO NOT UNDERSTAND. A narcissist parents attention and affection is a double edged sword because they dont see you as your own person, they see you as part of themselves or a small version of themselves. They defend you to other people like teachers because they see perceived slights against you as personal attacks on themselves but they also refuse to let you be your own person assuming its you rejecting them in some way. "You dont want to be a doctor like me? WHY DO YOU HATE ME?!?!"
12 days agoTo be fair, there's more than one way to be a narcissist. Just because she wouldn't do THAT doesn't mean she wouldn't be equally toxic in other ways. But your heart being in the right place is what's really important, so someone who is scared of being abusive probably won't be too bad at least.
