When my brother died, a part of me died too.
I became someone trying to survive while carrying everyone else showing up for my parents, standing in the place of both a first child and the second son we lost, being there for my younger brother, and still trying to perform at work. It was heavy.
In the middle of that pain, I found refuge in God’s presence and in writing. Every page of that notebook became a place where I poured out my grief, my prayers, my questions, and the healing God was slowly working in me.
Then I lost the notebook.
For months, I searched everywhere. I prayed. I asked friends and colleagues. I even dreamed about it. Losing that book felt like losing the one thing that had helped me process the deepest pain of my life. It broke me all over again.
Today, after six months, I found it.
The moment I opened those pages and read the words I had written about my brother, I laughed… then I cried. Tears I didn’t think I had left came pouring out.
It wasn’t just about finding a notebook.
It felt like restoration.
As if God whispered, “I have always been with you. Now you’ve found what you thought was lost.”
Grief changes you. Healing isn’t always loud. Sometimes it looks like finding what you thought was gone forever and realizing God never stopped holding you through it all.
Today, my heart is full.
Thank You, Jesus, for reminding me that You restore even in the smallest moments. ❤️
Kayode you will forever remain in my heart
I miss you so much.
