19 years!!
I’ve struggled sooo much throughout my life with diabetes and mental health. I never really talked about it until I was 18 (8 years with diabetes) and it was hard for me to say anything without holding back tears. There was so much pain there and no where for it to go. I’ve spent so many years working through it and trying to understand it. Building community here has truly saved my life. I’ve grown so much since then and I’m really proud. I’m also sad for my younger self who didn’t have what she needed. But if I could just make one person feel less alone in this (the way many of you have for me!) then it is all worth it.
A full, happy life with diabetes is absolutely possible. And I’ll never stop being honest about how hard it is too.
