After many comments and messages, here is another shot of the humpback whale sighted in close to the shore along a Fremantle beach in Perth. Initially, I hadn't noticed the curve in the spine until I came over the top here. Potentially mild scoliosis has been suggested. I can't see any injury to suggest it had been in an incident that's too obvious. But if you check the dorsal ridge, possibly a small tear?

It doesn't appear to be bothered, seems healthy and mobile if anything.

Who knows, it may appear on our coastline again when it makes the return on its southern migration or in other years to come.
