AOC Calls Elon Musk a “Billionaire Con Man” During Congressional Hearing 😳🔥

During a House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing on February 25, 2025, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez delivered a sharp criticism of Elon Musk and his role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

“He is not a scientist. He is not an engineer. He is a billionaire con man with a lot of money,” she declared.

Her remarks focused on concerns about federal workforce cuts, particularly layoffs affecting staff in the Food and Drug Administration’s medical devices division.

Ocasio-Cortez questioned whether decisions affecting medical research, clinical trials, and potentially life-saving technologies should be influenced by a billionaire technology executive rather than specialists with relevant expertise.

She also challenged Musk’s anti-waste message by pointing to the government contracts and public support received by his companies.

The confrontation reflects a broader debate over Musk’s influence in Washington: Should private-sector executives have such a significant role in reshaping federal agencies?

Supporters of Musk point to his companies’ achievements in electric vehicles and commercial spaceflight, as well as his engineering leadership at SpaceX. Critics question whether business success alone qualifies someone to make decisions affecting public services and scientific research.

The exchange captures the tension between government efficiency, technical expertise, and accountability.

Should billionaires have this much influence over government decisions? 👀👇
