52 years ago today, when some of the politicians in the Republican Party still had a backbone and at least a passing concept of decency. I was just a kid, and didn’t really understand what was going on. I knew though, that it was important enough to save the newspaper from that day, which was the Boston Globe. We were at my grandfather’s house at Nantasket Beach, Massachusetts.

I was 15 years old and at my dishwasher job at Dicky’s BBQ in Dallas, mopping the floors after closing, listening to the news of Nixon resigning on the radio. Maybe a kid loses their trust in adults in peculiar moments.

I remember it well! Watched the speech on our family's black and white TV set.

I was in sleep away camp, the counselors rolled out one small tv in the mess room so we could all watch his speech. We booed. Not sure if we even knew why! 🥴
