My Pregnancy Journey, Part 1:

I planned to run all 9 months of my pregnancy, carry my baby to full term, and then settle into the kind of postpartum bliss I had imagined for years.

I never imagined being admitted to the hospital at 28 weeks, waiting and hoping our baby boy would survive long enough to make it to a safe and mandatory delivery at 34 weeks.

I have always relied on my body.
I’ve pushed it through countless miles, workouts, races, and finish lines. I’ve asked it to do extraordinary things, and it has always answered.
But for most of this pregnancy, I resented it.
For the first time in my life, I couldn’t muscle my way through something. I couldn’t train harder. I couldn’t push through the pain. I couldn’t will my body into doing what I needed it to do.
Everything was out of my control.

At 28 weeks, the doctor said the words:
“Absent end-diastolic flow in the umbilical artery due to placental insufficiency.”

PLACENTAL INSUFFICIENCY.

💭 Insufficient.
💭 Inadequate.
💭 Incompetent.
💭 Inhospitable.

That was all I heard.
That was how I began to see my own body.
I felt betrayed by it.
How could the body I had trusted my entire life fail me at the most important moment of it?
How could it fail to give my baby the blood, oxygen, and nutrients he needed to grow and survive?

I felt like I had failed him.

I felt like a failure as a mom before my child was even born.

I’ll run away with you… October 23

It’s a good thing that I’m not fully awake yet because if I was I wouldn’t have posted this reel that I took 1 week ago lmao.

Fuck yeah bro. FAST match in Parma, ID. Piles of moon dust. Dune buggy. Belt fed stage gun. It's for you dawg it's lit.

1: guns for the match were the Aero Pro 12.5 and Shadow Systems MR920

2: holster is the new T-Rex Titan active retention holster

3: I ran the match with a Blue Alpha battle belt lite, 2 rifle mag pouches and 2 pistol mag pouches, no chest rig or additional LBE

Dust is not good for firearms. Everybody had at least a few malfunctions. I used a handful of Magpul Glock PMAGs which don't have a good reputation for handling dust, but I only had one hesitation to chamber on the last stage over two days. Otherwise zero malfunctions with the MR920. Retaining magazines in a dump pouch is a good way to keep them clean(er) but at some point you will have to go prone and your dump pouch will fill up with dust.

The Aero Pro 12.5 also worked great. Once my mags got really dusty I had a few sluggish bolt closures on the first round of a magazine. No other issues. Suppressor is a direct threaded Exigent Fireteam, gas is tuned with an adjustable gas block. Very pleasant to shoot.

I could definitely cater my gear to better suit this kind of match. I was carrying barely enough ammo to complete most of the stages. There were a lot of fairly long range pistol targets, and SHO/WHO shooting so a more match oriented gun would have made it easier. All the rifle targets were steel so the shots were taken at longer range for safety. A longer barrel and more magnification would have been useful on the rifle, and not a liability up close. I was warned I would want a bipod but I'm stubborn so I didn't bring one but I really should have.

Apologies for the wall of text. The match was awesome, you should try one.
