High school fishing has honestly been a huge part of my life and I’m really grateful for everything it’s given me. Fished our last high school tournament on Gull Lake for the TOC, didn’t go the way we wanted, finished 32nd out of 101. But I’ve made so many memories and it’s crazy to think that it came to an end. I wouldn’t trade it for anything, will be some of the best years of my life. @hunter_fishing28 @challenger.shawn

Marinette, never too much 🫣

The student protests in France are only part of the story. Across Europe, high school and university students are taking to the streets to expose deteriorating education conditions and the failures of the system itself.

From Belgium to Albania, from Greece to Ireland, students are mobilising to demand better education, more funding and an end to social inequalities. Some protesters have slammed their governments for putting war before education. In the squares of Albania, the message is even sharper: “What Albania needs is a revolution, a change. It can’t go on like this.”

In Italy, Germany and Greece, students are explicitly linking their protests to those in France. Schools have been occupied, or occupations attempted, in Turin, Naples, Rome and Bologna, as well as Hamburg and Berlin, with one clear demand: more investment in schools, less in war.

New protests began today. In Spain, an indefinite teachers’ strike has been announced, with educators demanding better salaries and better learning conditions for students. Demonstrations in defence of public education were also held at the Complutense University of Madrid, where riot police broke up the protest.

Some mobilisations have lasted far longer than a few days or weeks. In Serbia, students have been protesting for two years against corruption, negligence and a lack of transparency. It all started with a railway station collapse that killed 16 people and came to symbolise public anger over a decaying state.

Meanwhile, in Austria, thousands have taken to the streets since the start of the school year to protest a law banning girls under 14 from wearing the hijab. Students and supporters denounce racism and discrimination, with a clear message: “My head! My headscarf! My decision!”

Across Europe, calls for radical change are growing louder. In their own words, things can’t go on like this anymore.
