Not a fan of barbell squats? You still have options. 👇
The barbell back squat is an incredible exercise, but that doesn’t mean it has to be your exercise.
If the pressure of the bar across your upper back and shoulders is uncomfortable, or you’re simply looking for a new way to challenge your legs and glutes, give the B-stance squat a try.
The staggered stance allows you to place most of the workload on one leg while keeping the opposite foot down for a little extra balance and support.
A few cues to remember:
🍑 Front leg = working leg
🦶 Back leg = kickstand
🏋️ Keep most of your weight through the front foot
⬇️ Control the movement down
⬆️ Drive through the front leg as you stand
Start with bodyweight to learn the movement, then add dumbbells when you’re ready for more resistance.
And if you already love barbell squats? Keep doing them! This isn’t about replacing a great exercise. It’s about adding another useful tool to your toolbox.
Fitness doesn’t have to be one-size-fits-all.
Find movements that work for you, get stronger at them, and keep moving forward. 💪
📌 Save this for your next leg day and give the B-stance squat a try!
