It wasn’t even 10 a.m.

A poop blowout. An unexpected bath. A pile of laundry.

Then my toddler picked up my coffee… and dumped the entire cup onto our carpet.

My first reaction?

Frustration.

I lost my temper. I wasn’t the mom I wanted to be in that moment.

I was frustrated that he kept touching things he knows he’s not supposed to. Frustrated that instead of getting things done, I had another mess to clean up.

But then I caught myself.

At the end of the day… it’s just carpet.

The carpet can be cleaned. It can even be replaced.

Kids spill things. They make messes. That’s part of childhood.

The real question isn’t whether there will be messes.

There will be.

The question is: Who am I choosing to be in the middle of them?

Because my children won’t remember the coffee stain.

But they will remember how I made them feel.

They’ll remember whether Mom responded with grace… or with anger.

I’m not a perfect mom.

I lose my patience. I have to apologize. I have to ask for forgiveness.

And maybe that’s one of the greatest gifts I can give my children—not pretending to be perfect, but showing them what humility, repentance, and grace look like.

Motherhood gives us countless opportunities every day to choose our attitude.

To choose love over frustration.
Grace over perfection.
Connection over a clean house.

Today I didn’t get it right the first time.

But I got another chance.

And I’m so thankful that God’s mercies are new every morning. 🤍

If you’re in a season of little hands, big messes, and moments you wish you could do over… this is your reminder that His grace is sufficient for you too.

Here’s to choosing grace, one messy moment at a time.
