Day 2 Jackson Hole Wyoming- Bucket List: Whitewater Rafting✔️

I didn’t realize when I booked us a Whitewater rafting adventure at 9 am that it would be 40 degrees outside 🥶 but it was seriously so worth it! Of course we decided to sit in the splash zone upfront, my legs are still recovering from the death grip I had on the edges of the boat. New key memory made, can’t wait to go back! Enjoy the funny photos of us disappearing in the water!

Something that I have found so much value in as a mom is inviting my kids into the little things.

Anyone who knows me knows I’m a bit of a coffee snob. ☕️ I always have good coffee at home, and the only Starbucks you’ll usually catch me ordering is a cold brew… or a half-sweet Pumpkin Spice Latte when fall rolls around. 🍂

But that’s beside the point.

One morning, I asked Ezra if he wanted to help me make coffee.

I’m always looking for ways to invite him into the “mundane” parts of life—doing the dishes, folding laundry, cooking dinner, watering the plants, or making my morning coffee. To my surprise (and delight), he excitedly said, “Yes!”

Now it’s our little tradition.

Every morning we make coffee together, and my favorite part is watching him carefully choose the mug I’m going to use. He never picks just one—he usually brings me two or three because apparently it’s impossible to choose. 🤍 Some evenings he’ll even ask, “Can we make coffee?” even though he knows it’s not coffee time.

It’s funny how the things that seem ordinary to us become the moments our children look forward to most.

It may sound silly, but I’ve truly seen the value of inviting my little ones alongside me instead of waiting until I have “real” things to teach them. They’re learning responsibility, patience, and how to help. They’re watching what it looks like to care for a home. And somewhere in the middle of all those ordinary moments… we’re building memories together.

Motherhood isn’t always about planning the big adventures.

Sometimes it’s simply handing your toddler a coffee mug and letting them feel like they’re part of your world.

One ordinary morning at a time. 🤍 by @firedupforgod

It wasn’t even 10 a.m.

A poop blowout. An unexpected bath. A pile of laundry.

Then my toddler picked up my coffee… and dumped the entire cup onto our carpet.

My first reaction?

Frustration.

I lost my temper. I wasn’t the mom I wanted to be in that moment.

I was frustrated that he kept touching things he knows he’s not supposed to. Frustrated that instead of getting things done, I had another mess to clean up.

But then I caught myself.

At the end of the day… it’s just carpet.

The carpet can be cleaned. It can even be replaced.

Kids spill things. They make messes. That’s part of childhood.

The real question isn’t whether there will be messes.

There will be.

The question is: Who am I choosing to be in the middle of them?

Because my children won’t remember the coffee stain.

But they will remember how I made them feel.

They’ll remember whether Mom responded with grace… or with anger.

I’m not a perfect mom.

I lose my patience. I have to apologize. I have to ask for forgiveness.

And maybe that’s one of the greatest gifts I can give my children—not pretending to be perfect, but showing them what humility, repentance, and grace look like.

Motherhood gives us countless opportunities every day to choose our attitude.

To choose love over frustration.
Grace over perfection.
Connection over a clean house.

Today I didn’t get it right the first time.

But I got another chance.

And I’m so thankful that God’s mercies are new every morning. 🤍

If you’re in a season of little hands, big messes, and moments you wish you could do over… this is your reminder that His grace is sufficient for you too.

Here’s to choosing grace, one messy moment at a time. by @firedupforgod

They say “just walk out there and smile.” 😅

Meanwhile my internal monologue was filing a will, updating my life insurance, and questioning every decision that led me to this bridge.
