To the 31-year-old Fazlie,
Thank you for making it this far.
Life has a way of unfolding in chapters, and with every chapter, we meet a different version of ourselves. There was once a boy who had no idea where life was taking him, yet he remained excited about what the future might hold. The road wasn't always smooth, but every challenge came with a lesson, and every lesson quietly shaped the person you were becoming.
Looking back, I realise every version of myself had a purpose. They all led me to someone I can genuinely be proud of. And I hope that person can one day look back and simply say, "I've lived a good life."
I've come to believe that a life lived with passion, guided by compassion, is one of the greatest definitions of a fulfilling life. You made mistakes and learnt from them. You said yes to new experiences, even when you didn't know how they would end. You chose to put yourself out there, knowing people might judge, misunderstand, or criticise you—but you showed up anyway.
If there's one lesson every chapter has taught me, it's this: be authentic. You don't have to be everyone's idea of a good person, and that's okay. What matters is staying true to your values, your purpose, and the things you hold dear. Authenticity isn't about pleasing everyone; it's about having the courage to live a life that feels true to who you are.
Here's to 31. Another chapter to write with curiosity, courage, passion, and compassion. And wherever life leads next, I hope I never lose the willingness to become someone I've never been before.
