Probably you love Edinburgh as much as I do… so here are a few local tips to help you make the most of your visit:
Getting Around
Edinburgh is best explored on foot, but expect hills and cobblestones… Comfy, grippy shoes are a must-have those cobbles are slippery when wet…
I know that from my own experience…
(Pro tip: To avoid unexpected climbs, here’s a top tip: turn on the “wheelchair-accessible route” option in Google Maps. This smart feature will guide you along more manageable paths, perfect if you’re: Pushing a pram; Rolling a suitcase; Just want a less challenging walk).
Buses and trams are great for longer distances - skip the car rental unless you’re planning day trips.
Must-Sees & Must-Dos
Book top spots like Edinburgh Castle early. For budget-friendly exploring, visit free museums (National Museum of Scotland; Museum of Edinburgh; National Gallery of Scotland), stroll the Royal Mile, and take advantage of the long evenings with a sunset walk up Calton Hill.
