To me, friendship is about warmth, support, and mutual respect.
But when it comes to my work, I ask that it be treated with the same respect you expect for your own work and the work of others.
Every piece I create represents not only my time and effort, but also my heart, experience, skills, and financial investment. It means a lot to me when that is valued not only through words, but through actions.
If respect only goes one way, then it’s no longer friendship or mutual support. When someone expects to be paid and appreciated for their own work, yet doesn’t extend that same respect to someone else’s, it stops being friendship and starts feeling like taking advantage of another person for personal benefit.
I truly value my friends, but I believe real friendship is never built on undervaluing each other’s work.
