I am very excited to share ‘As If About To Whistle’, a group exhibition featuring 11 contemporary artists taking place in just over two weeks time
@oldwaitingroom.peckhamrye Join us to celebrate the opening at the Private View on Saturday 8th August 6-9pm!
About the Exhibition:
The title and theme of this exhibition, As If About To Whistle, explore the Old Waiting Room as an ‘in-between place’, a space of transit, experienced by people between location and time. Waiting and the title of this exhibition evoke expectation, anticipation and draw our focus on time itself passing.
In a society obsessed with the commodification of time, waiting could be considered an almost transgressive act, affording us a space to consider
our own temporality. Waiting may be utilised as a method of control, or considered an opportunity to pause and re-define new possibilities. The Old Waiting Room is both a place of the past and of the future, in its new incarnation. A place haunted by the ghosts of a bygone London embedded within its psychogeography it exists among the relics of a
different era, re-framed and re-purposed, yet frozen in time.
As If About To Whistle brings together eleven contemporary artists working across installation, moving image, painting, performance, print and sculpture to create responses to this unique location.
