Being a working mum is so humbling 😭

One minute you’re planning your future where you finally have an hour to yourself every day, mentally booking that weekend away and imagining the version of you who actually finishes a hot cup of tea…

And the next you’re hiding in the downstairs toilet for two minutes because everyone needs something from you before 7:30am 💀

Like the emotional range required to get your own life back genuinely needs to be studied

Because why are we simultaneously:

👉 convinced we’re going to become the calm, patient mum we want to be

AND

👉 snapping because someone asked where their PE kit is… again 😭

But honestly?

I actually think this is a GOOD sign

Because the mums who get themselves back usually believe life can feel different before they know how they're going to make it happen.

That’s what keeps you going through the early days

The bit where:

You still feel guilty taking an hour for yourself

The washing basket never seems empty

You keep slipping back into old habits

And everyone still expects you to carry the mental load 💀

The mistake most mums make is thinking these moments mean it’s never going to change

When really… this is just the normal reality of changing the way your family works

Nobody starts with hours of free time

Nobody starts with rock-solid boundaries

Nobody starts feeling completely guilt-free 😭

You build that

And usually the mums who DO build it are the ones willing to keep going through the awkward stage where asking for help, taking time for themselves and doing things differently feels uncomfortable.

So if you’re currently in the “future calm mum trapped in survival mode” phase…

Congratulations 😭

You’re probably way more normal than you think
