2 months ago@brisbane2032 The first and most important issue concerns the upcoming selection process: there is talk of further reducing the number of athletes or events—a measure that does not seem fair. I would like you to discuss this with your colleagues and advocate for retaining the 31 sports included in the Los Angeles 2028 program for the Brisbane Games as well, while allowing the host country to propose five additional optional sports. I believe that cricket, lacrosse (in the 2028 Olympic format), and squash should not be eliminated; in fact, they should be kept among the five optional sports. I also think that karate, bowling, netball, Muay Thai, and baseball/softball—or flag football—deserve a chance. It would be a shame for the five sports added for Los Angeles to disappear; why limit the number of athletes or eliminate other sports? Athletes work hard for the chance to compete for a medal once every four years; they deserve to keep that dream alive.
3 months ago@brisbane2032 Retain the 31 core summer sports for the 2032 Brisbane Games while adding compound archery events—individual, team, and mixed team—and including more taekwondo events. Keep squash as well; it involves the fewest athletes, is popular, and entails very low costs. Maintain cricket and lacrosse—sports with long histories and traditions that offer a captivating spectacle—and add karate (featuring the six men's and women's categories present at the World Games); it is a contact sport practiced across all confederations and by people of all ages, from the young to those over sixty. You might also consider—though without guaranteeing their inclusion—adding "roller park" and "street" events, similar to those in skateboarding; these would certainly attract an audience, especially given how widespread roller skating is as a recreational activity.
3 months ago@brisbane2032 Keep 6-on-6 lacrosse for Brisbane and future Olympics; it doesn't involve a huge number of athletes, it is a very spectacular sport, and it has a strong tradition. Generally speaking, sports or categories shouldn't be eliminated entirely—the number of participants can simply be reduced. After all, the selection process can be handled differently; that is what makes the Olympics special.
