Less running doesn’t mean less prepared.

It can mean better prepared.

One of the biggest mistakes marathon runners make is thinking more miles always lead to a better race.

But if you can’t recover from your training, you can’t benefit from it.

You miss workouts.

You carry fatigue from week to week.

Small aches turn into injuries.

For many runners, 3 purposeful runs each week are enough to build marathon fitness.

That leaves room for strength training, recovery, and life.

The goal isn’t to run the most.

The goal is to make it to the starting line healthy, confident, and ready to race.

Consistency beats high mileage every time.

Train smart. Stay healthy. Finish strong.

I’m 15 weeks out from my first marathon, been a runner for 11 years…I’m currently at about 18 miles per week over 3 runs per week increasing a couple of miles each week with some taper weeks built in too…I also strength train and do yoga to stay strong and prevent injury, I’ve found this is working for me so far and getting better each week, I’m 43 and have knee arthritis and have dealt with bakers cysts in my knee as well. So far feeling confident with this approach!

You have 15 years of running. I have 1. I need to accumulate as many miles as possible while staying healthy in order to run a sub 3 hr by next year. Life time mileage is how you can get away with 3 days a week.
