@thequint “I was beaten in front of a woman police officer and wasn’t even given water at the police station.”

Sohana Khan, a supporter of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), has alleged that she was assaulted by police during Monday’s clashes that broke out as protesters attempted to march towards Parliament.

Khan claims that two male police personnel beat her in the presence of a woman officer. She also alleges that some police personnel asked people about their religion before using force. These allegations have not been independently verified, and Delhi Police has not publicly responded to these specific claims.

According to Khan, she was later taken to a police station, where she alleges she was again assaulted. She further claims that, despite repeatedly asking, she was not provided food or water while in custody.

The allegations come a day after clashes between Delhi Police and CJP supporters during the party’s proposed march to Parliament, which did not have police permission. Police used force to stop protesters from advancing towards Parliament, while protesters have accused the police of excessive force. Delhi Police has denied allegations of brutality and has said it acted in accordance with the law and that several police personnel were also injured during the confrontation.
