From experimenting to experiencing, it took two different eras in my life to reach here and complete this work. It now looks a lot like how it feels...

Guided by the whispers of eternity,
a journey that began eons ago...

Reposting content from Kalakriti Art Gallery, where this painting was made during a peaceful and quiet artist residency program:

"Imagine an abundant jungle, tangled with foliage of sumptuous green. Before you, lies a mysterious landscape filled with animals, and birds of all kinds - both hauntingly beautiful and at the same time menacingly scary. From Henri Rousseau to Senaka Senanayake, tropical forests and groves have been a source of inspiration for many great artists.

As we look at Suryaprakash's iconic enchanted forest, Sonali Laha's brilliant red and blue jungle, Sunil Lohar's lush forest in peril, Avijit Dutta's wizened tree trunk making one last attempt at life, Aji Adoor's blue mountains and the silent valley, Debosmita Samanta's backyard forest that feels like home, or Ishrath Humairah's sun-bathed woodlands - we find ourselves surrounded in a exotic fantasy landscape filled with common plants and flowers exaggerated to create a lush environment for the creatures that populated his fantasy landscapes. Evoking a sense of mystery and eccentricity, the wild and it's wilderness these real and imaginary jungles have a powerful sense of mystery and allure."

About last evening. In solidarity with Gaza, and so many more war stricken nations around the world.

Students, working professionals, poets, filmmakers, artists, and creative folks across ages and walks of life came to share their letters, poems, art... tearfully read it all out aloud.... at this sombre yet peaceful event by @indians_with_palestine

I penned a few lines on my phone, like I always do. But realised it should not remain there.

..................................

Gentle rain,
little leaves,
and feathers...

How beautiful is
the sight
the sound
the touch
and feel
of this tenderness
that seems to fall
from the sky.

Until a drone fell.

A day well spent at Manthan Samvaad, India's most respected forums for free and fearless public discourse.

Designed as a "watering hole" for curious minds, Manthan brings together public intellectuals, journalists, legal experts, artists, policymakers, and citizens for a day of unfiltered conversations on issues that shape our society.

The 2026 edition featured powerful voices including television journalist Karan Thapar, author & filmmaker Subroto Chattopadhyay, digital rights activist Apar Gupta, Supreme court advocate and legal expert Shahrukh Alam, investigative journalist Poonam Agarwal, Professor of South Asian History Farhat Hasan, musicians MR Sharan, and Swaroop, who explored themes of democracy, dissent, digital rights, history, culture, free speech, and the urgent need to preserve institutions that safeguard democratic values.

In contemporary India, the significance of a forum like Manthan is profound. It serves as a rare safe space for free speech, encouraging nuance over soundbites, reflection over reaction, and dialogue over division.

At a time when public discourse is increasingly polarized, often driven by outrage, forums like these remind us that meaningful conversations can flourish without constraints, fear of reprisals, or the need for conformity. That the health of a democracy can often be measured by the quality of its conversations

Truly grateful to those who create and sustain these kinds of spaces.

I left with more questions than answers, and perhaps that's the point.

The Geometry of Longing: The Moon That Kept the Sun.

Oil on Canvas
18*18 inch
Deep Edge
Textured artwork
2026

-------------

What appears celestial is also deeply personal. A moon, a sun, a memory.

This painting began as a reflection on the connections we gather as we grow and go; people, places, and moments that continue to glow long after they are gone.

Memory rarely survives as a complete picture, but lingers as fragments, sensations, traces of warmth, and fleeting moments of light.

The circle became a quiet center, holding what seemed lost, much like the people, places, and feelings that continue to illuminate us from within. We may keep their sun inside us and, without realizing it, become bearers of its light.

A late-night pilgrimage to Charminar...

Drawn not by its lights or architecture, but by its invisible map of scents. The air carried notes of ittar, oudhbatti, baqoor, agarbatti, rain, flowers, wet asphalt, food and passing memories. Every lane seemed to hold a fragrance, every fragrance a story.

What fascinates me about scent is its ability to bypass reason and travel straight to memory... unlocking a forgotten street, a childhood passtime, or the presence of someone long gone.

I stepped into an old attar and incense shop, exploring different varieties of frankincense and watching their fragrant smoke curl through the air like memories made visible. In another tiny shop, I found a beautiful Khus attar, adding it to my ever-growing collection of attars and ruhs. Each bottle feels less like a fragrance and more like a fragment of cultural memory.

As an artist exploring the cultural life of scent, I found myself following aromas rather than roads, discovering a different kind of heritage, one breathed in rather than seen.

Perhaps memories do not live in photographs alone. Perhaps they wait patiently in scent, until one breath is enough to bring them home.

Old cities reveal themselves through monuments... Hyderabad today revealed itself through fragrance.

Anecdote of a reluctant and an accidental onstage debut.

Spring cleaning has a way of uncovering forgotten corners of our lives and, with them, memories tucked away for years. One such memory takes me back to my association with the Sthaayi Theatre Group, where I occasionally volunteered for backstage/ production support.

We were going full steam towards the D-day of "Broken Images" a well known play penned by Late Girish Karnad (also perfomed by Shabana Azmi in the lead role). It was also my first experience of interlacing video footage with live performance on stage. #HugeGamble

Little did I know that an actor’s last-minute withdrawal would suddenly propel me from the background to centre stage. Reluctantly I agreed to step in as there was no way out. #EmotionalAtyachaar

And there I was, memorising my lines in the middle of the night as it was a copyrighted play, where every word had to be delivered exactly as written. I was never good at mugging up.

It was an accidental debut of sorts but looking back it feels like providence at work... uncovering a facet of mine which I never had the time to work upon.

But then life is short, so why not.

Thank you, Jayashree, for pushing me to the wall and getting what you wanted. Some friends and friendships are such a rare priviledge.... leaving us with stories worth revisiting, and this is certainly one of them. ❤️

Soul poetry. The scent of dying roses.

-------------------------

Petals
like autumn leaves
sunkissed

fading

colours
forgotten lines
old traces

breathing

a faint perfume
in my palm
filling

scents

of the bygone
of beauty
and love

fragile

and fragrant
are the memories
I keep.
