Jennifer Lopez wore one of Dolce & Gabbana’s most extraordinary Alta Gioielleria creations to Vogue World: Milano on Tuesday.

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Oceanina a number of times, and its colour still manages to catch me off guard. At its centre is an extraordinary Paraíba tourmaline, glowing with that almost electric blue-green that makes these stones so immediately recognisable - and so difficult to forget!

At its centre is a 74.459-carat pear-shaped Paraíba tourmaline from Mozambique, surrounded by more than 800 diamonds arranged in an elaborate floral design and set in white gold.

Lopez wore the jewel with a black Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda gown, allowing the extraordinary necklace to steal the show.

Oceanina has already had another suitably glamorous outing: it was previously worn by Lady Kitty Spencer, giving this one-off piece something of a travelling social life of its own.

The piece takes its name from the Oceanids of Greek mythology, the sea nymphs said to personify the world’s waters and currents, which is the perfect name for a stone that seems to glow from within like tropical water.

Oceanina was awarded the awarded the Grand Prix de a Haute Joaillerie in Monaco in 2024.
