The Aloha Shirt was introduced to California by Walter Hoffman of @hoffmanfabrics in the 1950s. I was blessed to work with him and the crew back in the 90s - designing stacks of prints for @quiksilver…and will never forget the knowledge he passed on to me of the importance of storytelling.

When we started Distant Local, we spoke of turning our maps into Alohas and with the help of Alison and the crew we were able to create this San Diego “Stay Glassy” version. I think Walter would approve. We miss you…but your stories will live on forever. ❤️

#NEWS - A Texas detention deputy has been fired after photos of her posing with jail inmates surfaced on social media. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Detention Deputy #KarlaBeltran was terminated on Monday, October 12, just over three months after joining the department on July 1. The photos show Beltran sitting in front of a window overlooking an inmate holding area, with several inmates posing alongside her from behind the glass. According to the sheriff’s office, Beltran was dismissed during her one-year probationary period, which requires new detention deputies and cadets to meet strict performance and conduct standards. Employees who fail to meet those expectations can be terminated immediately without the right to appeal.
