My girl, Chastity
@cchasebug, invited me to join her table for Summer Nights at Dooky Chase with a group of fantastic women and Don😎 and beautiful jazz from Heritage School of Music.
If you know New Orleans, you know what that means. History lives in those walls and on them.
Dooky and Leah Chase built something sacred there — a place where people gathered, where community was fed, where resistance was woven into every dish. Grandson Dook, great-granddaughter Zoe, and their families continue that tradition.
Being here is showing up for connection. Creating space for community. Remembering that you matter enough to take a Thursday night for yourself in a place built by people who knew their own worth.
This is how you feel alive, how you remember who you are, and why you matter.
With people who see you.
