Can’t believe this wonderful experience ended a whole week ago!

So honored to have been selected to participate in SPARK Reproductive Justice Organization’s F.Y.R.E Camp 2026: Stand-Up, Clap Back!

I was able to participate in a 4 day camp rooted in a radical perspective of reproductive justice. We had deep political education and discussions throughout the camp. I learned about the dangers of fake abortion clinics, the importance LGBTQIA liberation in connection to bodily autonomy, radical parenting, disruption of gender constructs, cultural work & propaganda, and where the decriminalization of sex work falls in working class solidarity. We also took time for yoga, care/rest, and sound baths in the process.

Through this experience me and the other campers built stand-up sets that focused on “punching up” in comedy rather than “punching down” on marginalized groups which comedy is historically known to do. It was a joy to meet and have conversations with so many beautiful souls and watch them kill their stand-up sets!

This experience was so important to me as a cultural worker and community organizer. Made me even clearer on how radically understanding gender, sexuality, and identity is so important in the larger movement towards Black Liberation!
I stepped away from stand up a few years ago because as I became clearer on my identity as a cultural worker and Pan-African Socialist, I got more unclear on where comedy in such a misogynistic space would fit in my life. This experience definitely showed me where I fit. Shoutout to my man and big sis for their support! Shoutout to my fellow campers for their courage! Shoutout to SPARK for such a well organized experience! 🔥🔥🔥

Video of my set coming soon…

Boy, no matter how many gifs you post. It doesn’t change the fact that you hit a pregnant woman. I’m praying for your daughter. She gone see that one day.

Wow, to all of this, but especially the part about you essentially no longer “aligning” with comedy - in a way. And how you’ve honored that truth by pivoting - in many ways and in so many words . Also, I love how you mentioned “punching up” instead of “punching down”. This is what’s up ✊🏾✊🏾
