Recently, I played a string of dates and it reminded me of some of the “road rules” that I have picked up over the past 25 years.

• Learn songs before rehearsals
• Be a decent hang
• No shorts on stage
• Say please and thank you
• Do not debrief the details of the set on stage

What are some of yours?

-Know the load out tetris routine in your sleep. -Passenger seat is the navigator / overnight co-pilot. -Thank the sound guy / other bands. -Verbally confirm who has the van keys for the night. -Bring a soldering iron on tour. -Leave time for the backroads.

1. Don’t be a dick 2. Always keep snacks in the van 3. Do not tell the audience that loved you that you personally think you played like shit (this one is a challenge for me…) 4. Dummy check everything, and label all your shit (I use fluorescent orange surveyors tape to mark every single cable, case, and amp) 5. Don’t be a dick

Don’t sneak attack a song intro without the rest of the band.
