This Jaeger-LeCoultre Triple Calendar Moonphase 🌕 ended up becoming my second watch in a pretty unconventional way after I fell in love with the design.
I'm sharing this because I don't think people talk enough about buying watches at auction. There's more to it than just the hammer price, and I wanted to give some insight into what the real cost can look like.
For me, the risk was worth it for a unique JLC.
Thankfully, the amazing but slightly rusty movement was repairable by a watchmaker.
Would you ever take a gamble on a non-running watch?
Let me know why you would, or why you wouldn't.

Gefeliciteerd! That is a wonderful watch. Welcome to the disease of watch collecting. ;-)

That was a brave move and it paid off wonderfully! I took a gamble recently on a watch I knew needed attention and it's been a rocky road - it's had a service and a new old stock movement replacement and seems to be working for now,!

Congratulations! It’s a gamble that I wouldn’t take! Rusty and repaired isn’t the same as new and pristine! 🤗
