2 months agoOne family tradition I hold close to my heart is how we gather as a family during Ramadan. No matter how busy the day has been, we always come together for Iftar, the moment we break our fast. There’s something deeply comforting about sitting at the same table, sharing food, laughter, and quiet gratitude. My dad has his special way of making pap. He mixes it with milk and Bournvita, giving it this rich, smooth taste. It’s usually thick at first, but he lightens it just right so it feels almost like a warm drink. It fills you up in the gentlest way and keeps the hunger away for a long time. It’s simple, but it’s something we all look forward to. During Sahur, our early morning meal before the fast begins, we always eat properly, usually swallow like semo or amala, paired with different soups, with my daddy’s signature pap to step down 😌🤭. It’s another moment we share together, making sure everyone is well-fed and ready for the day ahead. Personally, I’m not someone who eats much when I’m fasting. But somehow, eating together as a family changes that. I find myself eating better, laughing more, and feeling more present. There’s a kind of warmth in those moments that goes beyond the food.
