Martha’s Vineyard, you were everything. 🤍✨
From watching one of the most breathtaking sunsets I’ve ever seen at Menemsha Beach with my baby, to sharing spaces with legends, leaders, Sorors, friends, and phenomenal Black women, this trip was truly special.
So many moments made this week unforgettable: meeting the legendary Spike Lee, meeting Dr. Ayanna Howard, the 12th President of Spelman College, at the beautiful Spelman fundraiser, and spending time with my Black Women on Boards Rising community, including Sharon, Panya, Rashida, Lisa, and so many incredible women whose journeys continue to inspire me.
But some of the sweetest moments were personal. Spending this time with my line sister Christina was so special, and getting to know Simone was such an unexpected gift. There’s something about traveling, sharing meals, laughing, talking, and simply doing life together that turns connections into memories. ❤️
And, of course, there was the Vineyard itself: experiencing historic Oak Bluffs and its iconic cottages, walking through Vineyard Haven, supporting Black-owned businesses, a little eyebrow sculpting at Maison Black, coffee with friends, taking in the gorgeous natural beauty of the island, waking up to our beautiful view, and those Menemsha sunsets that literally stopped us in our tracks.
But the best part of it all? Experiencing Martha’s Vineyard with Cassydi. 🤎 Watching my daughter experience a place so deeply connected to generations of Black history, culture, leadership, excellence, sisterhood, and joy made this trip mean even more.
Ending our time at the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival felt like the perfect finale to an incredible week.
We laughed. We explored. We connected. We celebrated. We poured into relationships. And most importantly, we made memories.
Twenty photos and videos still couldn’t capture it all.
The Vineyard owes us nothing. ✨
Until next time, MV. 🤍
