PCOS had me realizing that sometimes it’s not just about eating less it’s about what you’re eating and how your body responds to it. PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) is a hormonal + metabolic condition that can affect things like insulin, blood sugar, ovulation, and weight. For me foods heavy in processed sugar, calorie dense foods like burgers, pizza, fried foods, desserts, sugary snacks etc weren’t doing me any justice.
Those foods can cause bigger blood sugar and insulin spikes, and with PCOS, insulin resistance can be part of the picture. When insulin stays elevated, it can make it harder for the body to regulate blood sugar and increases hunger, cravings, and weight gain. The biggest shift for me was moving away from things i was use to, and developing a healthier relationship with food.
Avocados + healthy fats
Salmon + quality protein
Spinach + leafy greens
• Eggs + other protein sources
Veggies + fiber-rich foods
Whole fruits
Whole-food carbs in balanced portions all help with weight loss and sustainability.🩷
