The Edge of Darkness Trilogy — Leigh Rivers 🖤

I finally finished the entire trilogy!

What an emotional rollercoaster. So much darkness, pain, obsession, love, and complicated characters.

There were moments I absolutely loved, and others that left me with a few questions, but overall, it was an interesting and intense journey.

Kade and Stacey’s story definitely had its moments, and I’m glad I got to experience it.

I’m also really curious to explore more of Leigh Rivers’ books. I feel like there’s still so much of her writing I want to discover.

Now I’m ready for my next read. 🖤

Have you read anything else by Leigh Rivers? What would you recommend?

“Photography Is A Love Affair With Life”

The noodles were different, but this time her reaction was too.

Hannah ordered ramen at a new restaurant, expecting the curly noodles she’s familiar with. When it came out they were straight noodles that looked like spaghetti.

Not long ago that difference would have been enough for her not to eat it, but this time she acknowledged that it looked different, pointed out the differences, and worked through her discomfort to try it.

I can’t tell you how many times she’s ordered something familiar with every intention of eating it, only for an unexpected difference to make it feel wrong. A different noodle shape or a different color broth might seem insignificant to someone else, but for her it would mean going without the meal entirely.

This is why “I’m sure you can find something she can eat on the menu” isn’t always that simple with ARFID. Finding something familiar on the menu doesn’t mean it will arrive looking or feeling familiar to her.

It’s also why “she’ll eat when she’s hungry” is so frustrating to hear. We’ve watched her skip countless meals even when she was hungry because the food in front of her didn’t feel safe.

This time she noticed the differences, talked through what felt uncomfortable, and still gave it a try. Not every meal will look like this, but moments like these show how far she’s come and that’s what matters.
