Winning is cool, but making memories is far more valuable.

I won my first national show two years ago today, and the moment my name got called, all I could think about was how returning home with the trophy would make my grandma feel, since her precious time on earth was limited at that point.

It was never about a trophy, but on a much deeper level, more about making those around you proud.

This prep has been more challenging than recent ones in finding my "why" between shows and partially that may be because of her absence.

Titles don't mean close to anything when you don't have loved ones to share those victories with.

Seeing these pictures this morning in my gallery reminded me of why I've never stopped continuously moving forward.

Cherish your loved ones and keep pushing.
Much love

I think social media has completely stopped being a place where we feel "free" and "authentic." If a video doesn't grab attention in its first 5 seconds, it isn't shown to almost 90% of our followers. There's this thing called the algorithm, and when you create content, you have to do what the algorithm wants, not what you or your followers want. I think we've all been affected by this to some degree.

For example, last night I composed a melody with intense emotions. Today I filmed myself playing it so I wouldn't forget it, and my cat Burhan came over and listened. I wanted to share it, then I thought, "There's nothing eye-catching in this video, the algorithm will show it to very few people." So I decided not to post it. But then I thought: if I want to share this, and I'm not going to because it doesn't fit what the algorithm wants, then why is this my page? I think we just shouldn't care about it at all 🙂

I've been very stressed lately, struggling with so many things at once. I don't want to complain. Amid all my troubles, I just wanted to share a video of a few minutes at the piano, together with my dear cat Burhan 🤍

A room full of lawmakers tried to decide the age of consent, and somehow every answer made things worse.

Nobody wants to speak first, so they literally play “nose goes” until one unlucky senator is forced to answer.

Every suggestion gets destroyed by the room.

Then someone introduces “dibs,” and somehow the discussion gets even more ridiculous.

The perfect payoff comes when an 18-year-old woman finally asks whether women should maybe have a say in deciding the law.

Complete silence.

Then one guy quietly calls:

“Dibs.”

The sketch works because every attempt at serious debate exposes how absurd the men making the decision actually are.

Gilly & Keeves is Shane Gillis and John McKeever’s sketch-comedy series, built around dark, uncomfortable premises that keep escalating until the logic completely falls apart.

Written by Shane Gillis, John McKeever, and Steve Gerben, with Gilly & Keeves: The Special directed by John McKeever.
