Dr. Janis Phelps, founder + director of the Center for Psychedelic Therapies and Research at California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), friend, & visionary leader.

And in these photos from years past, Rick with more psychedelic giants: Albert Hofmann, who discovered LSD’s psychedelic properties, + Ann and Sasha Shulgin, pioneering researchers whose work with MDMA helped illuminate its therapeutic potential.

Standing amongst these giants was humbling, to say the least.

Because of Rick, MAPS, these legends, and SO many extraordinary humans in that room, we are closer to a future where these medicines may be approved and accessible for therapeutic healing.

**something I’ll ALWAYS make crystal clear: Psychedelic healing is serious, potentially life-changing work. These powerful compounds can also carry real risks. Safe set and setting, skilled therapeutic care, and ethical responsibility are ESSENTIAL. Without them, experiences can be unsafe and harmful. I advocate for SAFE, responsible, professionally guided psychedelic-assisted therapy in appropriate, safe contexts as these medicines become available.

HOW we bring this healing into the world matters as much as the medicines themselves. 🙏 #MAPS
