Today is World Leukemia Day.

This is what leukemia looked like for me. It stole my hair, my strength, my independence and nearly my life. But it did not get the final word.

I fought through awful side effects from chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant and complications due to GVHD that pushed my body to its absolute limit.

Today, I honor everyone fighting, everyone surviving, every donor who gives someone another chance and every family carrying the weight alongside them. I also remember those who should still be here. Joe Clardy, you are deeply missed and thought of often.

Eight years later, I don’t take this life for granted. I train, compete, love, laugh and live boldly because I know exactly what it means to fight for another day.

Leukemia changed my life (for the better🙏🏻), it never defined the limits of it. 🧡🎗️
