I’d like a word with the wellness industry.
Maybe it was growing up in the 90’s, when fat-free, low cal, low carb, Slim Fast, Snack Wells and the Adkins diet were all the rage, but the amount of “quick fix” information currently flooding the health space is giving déjà vu and makes me queasy.
And instead of me giving the benefit of the doubt and saying, ”it’s not that XYZ is bad…”, let me rip the bandaid off…
There’s no good quick fix for your health.
There’s no magic pill that doesn’t come free of potentially harsh or harmful side effects.
There’s no one-thing-to-fix-everything.
And if someone is trying to sell you on one, run fast and run far.
The absolute best thing you can do for your health is whatever you can do consistently. Do you need to push yourself out of your comfort zone? Yup. If what you’re doing isn’t working, it’s time to change it up.
Do you need to be super restrictive on what you eat? Maybe if you’re eating a bunch of overly processed food that isn’t actually nourishing your body, yeah restrict that crap.
Do you need to take hormones or peptides JUST because you hit your 30’s or 40’s. Nah. Get your hormones tested and complete other testing before you make those decisions because even more natural solutions can have unintended ramifications.
And if you’re serious about taking care of your personal health, find YOUR personal answers. I’m not currently doing hormones, peptides, GLPs or insane diets and I retired my cardio crown a long time ago.
What works for me is:
•Walking, Weight & Resistance Training 4-5 days a week. Stretching & jogging are my other go-tos.
•Drinking a Ton of Water. Average 100oz a day. Not a brag, I need it.
•Personalized Supplements Based on My Genes. I don’t take supplements “just because.”
•Eating mostly whole foods, but still enjoying treats and, of course, my Diet Cokes.
It can take some experimenting to figure out what works for you or what doesn’t for you, but it’s worth taking the time to know so you can stop worrying about which trend you need to follow next.
The trends will always be there. Your health deserves better.
