My girl turned 13 today. 🤍

Watching you grow is one of the greatest privileges of my life.

From the time you were little, you have always been strong-willed, independent, observant and curious. You have your own mind, your own voice, and such a strong sense of who you are.

And underneath all that strength is the softest heart. You notice people. You care deeply. You see when something doesn’t feel right, and you’re not afraid to question it. You have such a strong sense of justice and compassion for others, and that is something I hope you never lose.

You’ve experienced a lot of change for someone so young, and through it all I’ve watched you continue to grow into this incredible girl. I’m so proud of your strength, but most of all, I hope you always remember that you get to be YOU, to laugh, dream, have fun, make mistakes, and experience everything this life has waiting for you. 🤍

And then there are your roots. Minnesota will always be such a special part of your story the place where your life began, filled with memories, friendships, and people you love. Seeing your face light up when you’re reunited with people who have been part of your life since you were little reminds me that some connections simply stay with us, no matter how much life changes.

As you grow, I hope you always remember just how strong you are.

Keep your voice.
Keep your heart.
Keep your faith.
And never make yourself smaller just to fit into someone else’s expectations of who you should be.

I know you are going to do big things in this life. Not because you ever have to prove anything to anyone, but because of the person you already are, your courage, your heart, your determination, and the way you care about what is right.
