Sainuu, Mongolia! 🇲🇳 I’m officially here for COP17! But do you actually know what this conference is all about?
🇺🇳 Ever since the 1992 Rio Earth Summit, the UN established three major environmental conventions (known as the Rio Sisters):
UNFCCC: Focused on climate change and reducing carbon emissions (the famous Climate COP).
CBD: Dedicated to preserving biodiversity and ecosystems.
UNCCD: Focused on combatting desertification, land degradation, and drought—which is exactly why we’re here at COP17!
During the conference, I will be following the civil society negotiations, moderating a high-level panel representing the UNCCD Youth Caucus, and engaging at the Children and Youth Pavilion.
I’ll be sharing plenty of updates, key insights, and behind-the-scenes moments with you all. Make sure to follow along and keep an eye on Stories and Reels of @canalnovomundo @institutoecocria @unccd_youth_caucus @childrenandyouthresiliencehub @cop17mongolia ! 🌿✨
