SOUTH AMERICAN NIGHTS 🇦🇷🇧🇷 Boca Juniors x Vasco da Gama on Film. Soon two of South America’s most historic football clubs meet beneath the lights of La Bombonera. @bocajrs welcome @vascodagama to Buenos Aires for the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana semi-final, with a place in November’s final at stake. Separated by more than 2,000 kilometres, the clubs share histories shaped by immigration, working-class communities and some of the continent’s most passionate supporters. Founded in 1905 by young men from Buenos Aires’ La Boca neighbourhood, Boca Juniors grew into one of world football’s most recognisable institutions. Their blue and gold colours, famously inspired by the Swedish flag, have become synonymous with La Bombonera, inaugurated in 1940, and six Copa Libertadores triumphs. In Rio de Janeiro, Vasco da Gama’s story began in 1898 as a rowing club founded largely by Portuguese immigrants. Its football team would later challenge the racial and social barriers of Brazilian football. In 1924, Vasco famously refused to exclude Black and working-class players from its squad, a defining chapter in the club’s history. The two sides have met on the continental stage before. In the 2001 Copa Libertadores quarter-finals, Boca won 1–0 in Rio before completing a 4–0 aggregate victory in Buenos Aires. They went on to lift the trophy that year. Twenty-five years later, they meet again. Boca’s blue and gold against Vasco’s black and white. Buenos Aires against Rio de Janeiro. Two extraordinary supporter cultures, with everything to play for. Ahead of tonight’s encounter, photographer @mordjannnn has captured both clubs and their supporters on film, offering a glimpse into the colours, characters and traditions that make South American football so compelling. 📸 Photography: @mordjannnn 🏆 Copa Sudamericana | Semi-final, first leg 📍 La Bombonera, Buenos Aires 🇦🇷

BLAH-BLAH-BLAH PEAKED IN THE UK 40 YEARS AGO TODAY “I'm not the kind of guy who dresses like a king...” Released just over 40 years ago in the UK on Monday 29th September 1986, Iggy Pop’s Blah-Blah-Blah charted at its peak position of #43 on this day, 11th October. Produced by David Bowie and David Richards, it fared better in New Zealand and Switzerland where it was a top 20 release, and in Sweden it peaked at #3. The UK position was disappointing, considering both Iggy and Bowie fans would have been potential purchasers. The pair’s previous collaborations, The Idiot and Lust For Life, were top 30 albums in the UK in 1977. Six of the ten tracks on Blah-Blah-Blah were co-written with Bowie, though the biggest hit single from the album was a cover version: Real Wild Child (Wild One), which reached #10 and gave Iggy two Top Of The Pops’ appearances in January 1987. The only other performance on the show was Beside You in May 1994. These are the five singles in order of release: Cry for Love, Real Wild Child (Wild One), Shades, Fire Girl, and Isolation. Despite being blighted somewhat by the 80s production, it's actually a fine album, mainly due to the quality of the songs. Mention should be made of guitarist, ex-Sex Pistol Steve Jones, who also co-wrote three of the songs. If you’re not familiar with Blah-Blah-Blah, you really should give it a try. Personnel Iggy Pop – lead vocals Kevin Armstrong – guitar, backing vocals Erdal Kızılçay – synthesizer, bass guitar, drums, string arrangements, backing vocals Steve Jones – guitar solo on "Cry for Love" David Bowie – backing vocals Production David Bowie – producer, mixing David Richards – producer, engineer, mixing Nick Egan – art direction, design Michael Halsband – cover photography Bowie and Iggy are pictured here by Larry Busacca, backstage at The Ritz in New York, after Iggy’s show there during the Blah-Blah-Blah Tour in November 1986. #BowieIggy #BlahBlahBlah40
Does my outfit look okay? 🤍
An update from Union Plaza in downtown Honolulu, with footage from October 12, when the latest activity began, and this morning, October 14, 2026. Trash is piled up behind the building, while security remains stationed at the front & back. Both entrances appear secured with chains, padlocks, and reinforced locking hardware. The building has been at the center of an ongoing dispute involving evictions, utility shutoffs, safety concerns, and plans to convert the property into student housing. Former occupants told me they were not shown any paperwork when they were forced to leave and that personal belongings remain inside that they still need to retrieve. I was also told only four people remain in the building, but that has not been confirmed. Questions remain about the removals, access to belongings, and emergency exits. Updates and corrections are welcome.
