Neighbors! Sharrieffa Barksdale & The Domestic Violence She Survived
__
The world saw an Olympian, but behind the uniform was a powerful story of strength, sacrifice, and survival. HURDLES, an upcoming biopic film currently in development with Gentel Sharrie Productions, tells the inspiring story of 1984 U.S. Olympian Sharrieffa Barksdale, the first American woman to break the 55-second barrier in the 400-meter hurdles.
__
Beyond her historic athletic achievements, Barksdale overcame domestic violence, heartbreak, personal loss, and adversity, finding strength through faith and perseverance. Now, 44 years after competing in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, she is preparing to return for LA28 as part of the USA Track & Field supporting staff. Her extraordinary journey will be brought to life by her daughter, award-winning actress and producer Gentel Sharrie, who will portray her mother in the upcoming film. HURDLES is more than a sports biopic; it’s a story of resilience, survival, and breaking barriers both on and off the track.
__
The project features narration by JAVA, photography and videography by Dante J. Cutley, and hairstyling by Tiauna lovelyhairandbeauty.

Comment APP 🔥 20 minutes of INTENTIONAL AF training beats an hour of exercises you randomly threw together while mentally running through your to-do list. 💯

And if that’s how you’re approaching every workout, it’s no wonder you’re frustrated with your results 🫠

Ladies, bring your BRAIN into the workout. Focus on your breathing. Your positioning. The muscles doing the work.

Especially after having babies, your programming needs specialized exercises that honor what your body needs.

You are postpartum for LIFE.

Your abs stretched. Your rib cage and pelvis adapted. Your pelvic floor supported a growing baby.

Your programming needs to account for those changes (some permanent!) as we train toward the strength, function, and aesthetics we want and my GOODNESS DESERVE!!

Here’s what you can work on in 20 minutes: 👇🏼

✨ Upper and mid-back MOBILITY

✨ Rib cage POSITIONING + breathing into the sides and BACK of your ribs.

✨ Hamstrings + glutes to help control your pelvis beneath your rib cage.

✨ Teaching your diaphragm, abs, and pelvic floor to work TOGETHER for better pressure management.

✨ Progressively overloading your abs to build and MAINTAIN strength.
