I felt a shiver from ear to ankle as @agotoronto curator Dr. Julie Crooks explained Sasha Huber’s piece Tailoring Freedom (slide 2). Slaves were traditionally photographed naked. Look at the pain in their eyes. Huber decided to reimagine them in the clothing of abolitionists…done with staples. Painful to install. Leaving a visible mark when removed. Whew.

Just a tidbit of the depth and beauty and joy and pain and absolute bachanalia to be experienced when walking through Sunday Best. I highly recommend this show. You’ll leave changed.
