I’ve spent a lot of my career sharing stories about running. Training highs and lows and maybe most notably: marathon race recaps. Though I didn’t run a marathon this year, this summer I experienced something much more challenging. It was a summer filled with uncertainty surrounding my pregnancy and the birth of our son. There were moments of joy, fear, and a lot of moments I’m still trying to make sense of. I’ve struggled with how much of this experience to share. Some memories are difficult to revisit, and others feel impossible to put into words. But if I’ve taken anything away from our experience this summer, the professionals we worked with and the countless other families who have tackled similar situations, it’s that, like the marathon, many of us are navigating the same uncertain waters. So, in true marathon recap fashion, I want to share a multi-part chronicle of my pregnancy, Warren’s birth, and the journey that has followed. It’s raw, emotional, graphic and at times may be difficult to read. And while we have embraced the difficulties of our experience entering parenthood, I also recognize that parts of our story may be triggering for others. So, if you’d like to follow along, I’d love to share this chapter of our lives with you.
