Kecelakaan maut terjadi di Jalan Raya Purwasari, Karawang, Jawa Barat, Kamis (8/10). Tiga siswi SMP yang berboncengan menggunakan sepeda motor Honda Beat tewas setelah menabrak truk yang mogok dan terparkir di lajur kanan jalan.⁠

Kasatlantas Polresta Karawang, Kompol Triyono Raharjo, mengatakan ketiga korban berinisial E, S, dan Q. Mereka mengalami kecelakaan saat dalam perjalanan pulang sekolah dari arah Purwasari menuju Cikampek.⁠

Setibanya di lokasi kejadian, motor yang ditumpangi ketiganya menabrak bagian belakang sebelah kiri truk bernomor polisi B 9086 XY. Dua korban meninggal dunia di tempat, sementara satu korban lainnya sempat kritis dan dilarikan ke RS Karya Husada. Namun, korban tersebut akhirnya meninggal dunia.⁠

Berdasarkan keterangan saksi, ketiga siswi itu disebut sempat bercanda saat berkendara sehingga tidak menyadari keberadaan truk di depan mereka. Ketiganya juga diketahui tidak menggunakan helm saat kecelakaan terjadi.⁠

Polisi telah mengamankan truk tersebut ke Mako Polresta Karawang. Sementara itu, sopir truk masih menjalani pemeriksaan untuk dimintai keterangan lebih lanjut terkait kecelakaan tersebut.⁠
